Tomorrow evening we are hosting our final summer workshop (yes summer doesn’t officially end until September 23rd)!! Andrea and I took some time to reflect on our And Grace Too summer season and our own personal summers. Some of the questions we asked ourselves were themes we had explored both personally and within our classes. We invite you to reflect on them if you are called to. As always we love to hear from you if you feel inclined to share.
Andrea’s: WHAT WERE YOU MOST SURPRISED BY THIS SUMMER?
My need for solitude and rest, usually my summer is high energy with tons of company. WHAT TOOLS DID YOU USE TO NAVIGATE THIS SUMMER SEASON? Walks in nature, meditation, daily pauses for listing deep gratitude, honouring the need to rest. I was initially saddened by my winter (as in the season my body was feeling!) Living in Muskoka the summer is what we wait for -I felt misaligned-we wait so long for this, so this was a different summer for me. I am still in my slumber and the earth is once again moving towards slumber!!!
WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENTS FROM SUMMER 2019? The day some of our German relatives arrived, my mom seeing her first cousin, speaking her first language. It was the sense of reunion/gathering that I loved. We went to the fireworks in the boat and the sense of all of us floating on the water...Canada...fireworks...family …. Connection
WHAT SEASON DO YOU THINK YOU WERE IN PERSONALLY?
Deep winter, deep slumber/hibernation/fog- so grounded-felt the earth pulling me down- not being pulled into other’s spin/vibration
Nikki’s thoughts: WHAT WERE YOU MOST SURPRISED BY THIS SUMMER? How much leaving my hair curly changed my experience. I felt so free… I have never jumped in the lake so many times in one summer! For the whole summer, ease was my go to mindset. It really matched up well with the playfulness and fire of the summer season. It was interesting to me how when I consciously called in ease I seemed to organically line up even more with the season. Go me!!!
WHAT TOOLS DID YOU USE TO NAVIGATE THIS SUMMER SEASON?
I said yes to adventures, hiking in the park, cocktails on the dock, late dinners or no
dinners...long live the charcuterie. Meditation (often twice a day). Started each day with meditation, prayer, oracle cards and writing. Wrote myself notes with EASE on it. Practised gentle with strong boundaries.
WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENTS FROM THIS SUMMER?
I was blessed to have many as our German family came for a visit for the first time since my mom has been gone. Probably our hike in Algonquin Park--it was so hot/ so buggy/so challenging/ one group got so lost (Stevie you know who I’m looking at) and it was absolutely perfect!!!
WHAT SEASON DO YOU THINK YOU WERE IN?
Absolute summer!! So much deep deep gratitude for the gifts of this season.
Love and light to all of you always and especially as this summer light fades. N and A
